Today we are at sea. It's a long day but a busy one. The alarm goes off at 7.30am, need to get showered and leave my cabin mate enough time to get ready too.

Off to breakfast in the crew mess before work starts. Arrive at work at 8.45am along with my colleagues and we begin setting up the shops for the day ahead.

First job is to pull out and set up the promotional tables that have our daily specials on. Once this is done we can then open up the shops and get ready for the guests to start filtering in. First hour is usually quiet so its time to clean and do general maintenance in the shop.

Busy times are between 11.00am and 2.00pm so this time is dedicated to delivering excellent service to our guests and making sales to achieve our targets. After lunch its time to replenish the shops from the morning trade and get ready for the afternoons business.

Dinner starts around 6.00pm. Just enough time for us to eat and get changed into our evening uniforms for the rest of the night. During the evening we start to prepare for the following day. The promotional tables are re-filled with the special offer for the next day. Now we need to clean down the shops and re-stock before the day finally ends at 10.00pm. Everything needs to be stocked up and ready to go for our guests when we open the next day. After a meeting with our manager to discuss the day's business and what we need to achieve for target it's time for relaxation with a party in the crew bar.

I wake up today and we are in Civitavecchia which is close to Rome. I am off on a trip to see the Vatican, the Treffi fountain and experience the amazing sights of Rome. This is the best part of being at sea, waking up in a different port each day and being able to get off the ship and explore some unique places. World cruises can be hard work, you can work 6 days at sea but after that you may end up scuba diving in the Maldives, climbing Sydney harbour bridge or visiting the Mayan ruins in Mexico.

Back to work at 6.45pm after seeing the sights of Rome. Busy night tonight, chatting with the guests about their experiences of Rome and selling lots of stock. Set up the promotional tables for tomorrow as we are at sea again. Another long day ahead but the day after I get to explore the sights of Athens.
