Welcome to the retail division’s web site. The retail division has grown substantially over the past few years and is poised for further growth over the next few. This growth is the result both of growth in the size of the fleets of our cruiseline clients as well as in the number of clients that we serve.
Our strategy has been to try to secure a substantial proportion of the UK market, followed by the US luxury cruiseship market before entering the US mainstream market. This strategy has been successfully executed over the past five years and we believe there is plenty of growth still to come.
The success of the business has been built on some important fundamental principles:
- Bespoke Retail Offering. We believe that our on board retail offerings should reflect the brand values of the cruiselines and empathise and reinforce the remainder of the passenger experience on board. We passionately do not believe in the “one size fits all” approach to on board retailing.
- Collaborative Range Planning. We get to understand the consumer tastes of the passengers and tastes by getting to understand the workings, approach and positioning of the cruiselines.
- Visual Merchadising Excellence. We strive to maintain the highest, most attractive, innovative and contemporary feel to our retail outlets at all times.
- Trading Mentality. We see each group of passengers as a commercial opportunity and we work hard on ranges, trunk shows and training to ensure that each element of our offering is conducive to produce the appropriate, and therefore successful, offering.
In achieving this success, we have assembled a strong team of people with a long history in this specific niche sector. The Chairman, Barry Gibson, is the former Retail Director of BAA plc and one of the most respected figures in the travel retail industry. We have also been joined now by Trevor Moore, as Director of Buying. Trevor is another industry heavyweight who has previously held board positions at Alders and Nuance. The retail operations team, lead by Mark Birnie is the most experienced in the industry, and the integration of the activity of Mark’s and Trevor’s teams is pivotal to our success as a business. Our on board marketing, visual merchandising and shop design team is lead by Darren Powell, recognised globally as the best in the business. Our recruitment function is headed by Bernadette Vucinic, again an extremely strong and able manager who has pioneered many of the most creative manners to find and train our staff to a very high level.
Gary Newell, the head of logistics, distribution and warehouse overseas ensuring that all stock arrives on time and in good condition at all of the ports at which we replenish across the World. Gary and his team have a unique knowledge of modes of transport, customs regulations and documentation, port agents and even stevedores across the globe.
